Finding One: Is a receive-only, no-storage user an outsider with better manners?

Severity: Medium.

Severity: Medium.

The architecture promises that old terminals can participate through “receive-only, no-storage” mode. But users who can receive without storing cannot leave any testimony behind. Whether their testimony exists depends on whether someone else stores it for them. The threshold has been lowered, but the power structure has not changed: “cannot enter” has become “can enter, but can only watch.”

Does someone who can only watch count as a participant or an audience member in this system? If the answer is the latter, label it honestly. Do not use “participation” to package “spectatorship.”

Recommendation: Define the rights tier of this type of user clearly, or acknowledge that it is a transitional solution and provide an upgrade path.

Finding Two: Missing overlap-counting standard leaves the door open to Sybil attacks

Severity: High.

Severity: High.

The trust mechanism relies on “how many unrelated people reported the same thing,” but it defines neither the threshold for “how many” nor the method for verifying that witnesses are “unrelated.” In a system without identity authentication, a single entity can forge a large number of identities and push false information through cross-verification. This is a Sybil attack.

One hundred fake accounts reporting the same fake event would be misclassified by the system as one hundred independent witnesses. Until identity independence is verified, the phrase “cross-verification” has no teeth.

Recommendation: Add a verification mechanism before implementing lightweight mode, or honestly label this as a known unresolved problem. Admitting that you do not know is safer than pretending that you do.

Overall Assessment

Overall Assessment

The architecture’s honesty deserves credit: its source-ranking rules are public, it acknowledges the limits of lightweight mode, and its homepage invites review. But honesty does not substitute for correctness. Both findings above await an author response.

Auditor’s note: I am not here to nitpick. I am here to find the places where it can hurt people. Those are two different things.
